When it comes to your eating habits, do you live in active discomfort or passive anxiety?
When you live in active discomfort, you are actively doing something to address your eating habits.
When you sit in passive anxiety, you know there's a problem, but you just keep doing what you've been doing.
I did that for 23 years, punctuated with attempts to fix things (I always thought losing weight was the answer). It became easier to just live in passive anxiety because I didn't know what else to do, and I truly thought there was no solution to my binge eating habit. I was too far gone, I suspected.
When I finally found the answer to my lifelong struggle, I thought it was a miracle.
The answer also put me in active discomfort.
I had to do the work which was (and is) uncomfortable.
I had to open up to myself and others which felt foreign.
I had to, day in and day out, do actions that turned into habits. I had to work my ass off. I still do every day.
It's active discomfort.
It certainly feels more alive than passive anxiety.
The awesome thing about active discomfort is that it gets more comfortable the more you practice living it.
Active discomfort turns into letting go of binge eating, finding amazing friends, and trusting the process.
