2020 – My Awesome Terrible Year in Review

On this last day of 2020, it's only fitting that I look back and share my top 10 (well, actually 12) awesome and top ten horrible experiences of this year.  As you know, I believe at any time (no matter how awesome your life is), that life is 50 percent awesome and 50 percent not-so-great.  I'm okay with that, because I've learned how to accept the terrible parts of life as part of the experience of being fully alive.  Without further adue:

Nadine's Top Ten of 2020:

  1. I read some amazing books.
  2. I renewed my commitment to my recovery from binge eating and tightened up my support, resulting freedom and peace of mind in my food program.
  3. I knit my first sweater -- and it fit!!
  4. I became a certified life coach.
  5. I wrote my first course (Stop Binge Eating) and took 10 women through it.
  6. My family became super close as a result of the Covid lockdown.
  7. I started running again -- this time, for the RIGHT reasons (my mental health, not weight loss).
  8. We purchased a hot tub and it was the best investment ever.
  9. I resigned from my side job as a hand sewer at Bamboletta because my private practice reached full capacity.
  10. I met my life coaching partner in crime, Helen, from across the world -- it was love at first sight -- and she inspires me to greatness daily in my business and personal development.
  11. I started weaning off my antidepressant after 12 years.
  12. The Dr. finally fixed my ear (see below).

Nadine's Bottom Ten of 2020:

  1. I got a piece of wax stuck in my ear and couldn't hear much for two weeks.
  2. I struggled with my food recovery and went on a few painful rabbit trails.
  3. I freaked out about my business going under when Covid hit.
  4. I lived in fear for awhile when Covid came, wondering if we'd run out of food, toilet paper, and money.
  5. My brain got caught up in my daughter's friend drama and it felt painful.
  6. My ex spent 6 weeks in the hospital and it was a tough time for everyone involved.
  7. I watched my anxiety and insomnia skyrocket in the fall and as a result, needed to go back on 1/2 dose of my antidepressant.
  8. My husband's pay got cut in half due to Covid.
  9. We had to cancel vacation plans with my parents, sister, niece and nephews in the summer due to Covid.
  10. I spent too much time on my phone.

So there you have it.  50 percent awesome and 50 percent terrible.  Welcome to the experience of being human!  I have loved sharing my thoughts with you this year.  Here's to another year of 50/50!  Bring it, 2021!

Until next time,
