This is the beginning of a new type of posting for me. I am, daily, going to write a short - or long - thought about things I am noticing or thinking about in this moment. Because this is meant to be a daily offering, I am trimming back the bells and whistles - like making the post look pretty with organized headings or providing a graphic under the title - because these are obstacles I see that may get in the way of me creating every day.
This morning I'm thinking about how seemingly little it takes in order to start moving in a different direction. For example, I have a problem with my phone. I'm on it far too much. Last night, I decided to read a book instead of cruise around on social media. I slept better (was that a coincidence?) and I woke up with the itch to read more. Just a couple of hours away from the phone started a new enjoyment of reading. Same with reviving energy by going for a short walk. Or eating a healthy, soul nourishing meal after a string of not-so-healthy choices. Or tidying up one corner of the room. Or taking a minute to write a to-do list when feeling overwhelmed.
It takes very little to start moving in a new direction, even if the direction is only a degree or two off the original path.
Until next time,
