One of my favorite feelings is pride. It feels so good. For me, it is often hard won. On my recovery journey, here’s how it manifests:
I follow my food plan today – I feel proud.
I make it through a day of pms without bingeing – pride.
I experience a slip and choose not to throw the day away and eat allllll the food – pride.
I eat and eat and eat….and then I stop midway through a binge – pride.
I let myself experience boredom and restlessness rather than plugging those with food – pride.
I’m socially anxious at the table and choose to feel that rather than eat – pride.
I experience the sadness about a break up and don’t eat over it – pride.
The feeling of pride often comes after accomplishing something that feels a bit challenging or uncomfortable. It is SO worth it.
I create and experience feeling proud in little and big ways daily – will you join me?
