Are you in the business of self sabotage?
There is nothing wrong with you. Self sabotage is common and normal.
In a nutshell, self-sabotage is when you undermine your own goals and values.
There’s something out there you genuinely want and believe is good for you, but then you do things that directly conflict with that goal.
Sound familiar?
Here’s what it looks like: You write down your food for the day. You commit to eat what you wrote down. Annnnnd then you don’t follow through.
You really wanted to stick to what you said you would for so many good reasons. But you didn’t.
What just happened?
Your OLD CONDITIONING took over and ran on autopilot. Despite your good intentions at the start of the day, your brain had other thoughts in the moment like: "I don't feel like it." "Eating X will make me feel better." "I don't have time." "I've already messed up. I'll just eat whatever and start again tomorrow." You believed those thoughts and followed through.
That’s it.
The solution is two-fold:
- Become aware of how you talk to yourself...then
- Start talking to yourself differently.
Self-talk is the difference between those who follow through with their goals and those who don't. Most are in the habit of just letting those old conditioned thoughts run wild with no supervision.
HERE ARE MY BEST TIPS FOR OVERCOMING SELF SABOTAGE:
- Keep track of the things you say to yourself before and during your self-sabotage episodes. Look at the list.
- Write down what you WANT to say to yourself instead that would lead to a different result.
- Practice, practice, practice.
Remember: self sabotage is common, normal, and solvable. There is nothing wrong with you. Take the time to unwind this – it will pay off!
You’ve got this.
Until next time,
